TrackId=ZipRecruiter Student Support Services (SSS), a federally
funded TRIO grant program, operates under the sponsorship of the
U.S. Department of Education. The SSS Program’s mission is to
increase the retention and graduation rates of eligible
undergraduate participants by providing comprehensive academic
support services. It fosters academic success through a supportive
educational environment and holistic advising at Simpson
University. The SSS Program at the university serves at least 150
participants. The TRIO Advisor holistically supports TRIO students
through life coaching, academic advising, tutoring plans, financial
planning and FAFSA assistance, leadership training, career and
internship planning, and facilitates summer bridge programs. The
primary load for the TRIO advisor will be TRIO students. The TRIO
advisor will be part of the Student Services Team and work
alongside other staff to holistically support all students.
Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in education,
student affairs, student personnel administration, counseling,
psychology or related field. 2. Minimum of 2 years of experience
working directly with undergraduates, particularly lower income,
first generation college students and/or college students with
disabilities. 3. Must possess excellent written and verbal
communication skills, in addition to the ability to use computer
applications. 4. Ability to manage multiple, competing task and
prioritize projects in a complex environment while maintaining
attention to details. 5. Proficient with Microsoft Office software
(e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.) 6. Ability to adapt to constant
changes and develop new initiatives. 7. The Advisor should
demonstrate knowledge of and sensitivity to undergraduates from
diverse cultural, economic and academic backgrounds. 8. Ability to
work as a team member and leader. 9. Strong problem solving and
planning skills. General Expectations: 1. Personal relationship

Supervises employees in accordance with Simpson University policies
and procedures 9. Support the overflow needs of other departments
within the respective university area 10. Perform other duties in
accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate
supervisor Essential Functions: Program Building Work with the
Director to design and build the program’s infrastructure and
processes in accordance with the grant’s specifications. Work with
the Director to recruit eligible students to participate in the
program. Interview and screen applicants to ensure eligibility as
well as “good fit” for the program. Conduct a series academic,
financial and personal development assessments to identify
students’ needs for assistance through the program. Create
Individual Plans of Action with students to help them stay on track
with their academic, financial and personal development goals Track
and record progress of students in accordance with grant
requirements. Create and administer (or coordinate with other
departments to administer) study groups, academic coaching
sessions, one-on-one mentoring. Gather and record program data as
required by grant requirements. Academic Advising Provide students
with academic advising through small groups and one-on-one
advising, including but not limited to, assistance with
orientation, registration, course selection, prerequisites, etc.
Assist students with selecting and declaring their major including
but not limited to providing accurate information about degree
requirements and individual action plan to ensure on-time
graduation. Monitor student's academic progress, utilizing early
alert systems to identify any student’s that might be struggling
Connect students with appropriate academic resources to ensure they
remain on track. Develop and facilitate programs to advise students
on attending graduate school including program selection,
application process and financial aid assistance. Personal, Social,
Spiritual Development Demonstrate an active Christian commitment,
serving as a counselor, advisor, role model and facilitator of
student’s personal, social and spiritual development. Develop and
administer programs, workshops and events to build community
ensuring students have a sense of belonging. Conduct small group
and one-on-one sessions as it pertains to student’s personal,
social and spiritual development. Physical Requirements: Job Title
