Job Description:
Full-Time (FTE) position summary. Under the direction of the
Wiyot HHS Director, with the guidance of the Wiyot Parent
Committee, the Program Manager is responsible for planning,
coordination, and implementation of activities at the Wiyot Youth
Programs. This includes addressing the developmental needs,
interests, and characteristics of youth based upon the assessment
of needs and interests of youth and the community. Activities shall
strive to relate to the five core areas of Youth
Programming.Responsibilities:
- Hold weekly Wiyot Youth Program collaboration meetings with
other Wiyot Youth program staff and create a team environment and
support their professional growth.
- Plan and organize Wiyot Club programs based on needs and
interests of youth, and consistent with the Youth Program
philosophy.
- Recruit and train program volunteers, interns, or assistants
for activities.
- Promote and market programs to members, parents, and
community.
- Orient new members to the Youth Program and stimulate interest
in activities.
- Maintain a positive climate for youth development.
- Establish programs that ensures the health and safety of
members, including instruction in equipment usage, maintaining
equipment, and enforcing safety policies.
- Provide guidance to members and maintain respectful
communication with all members, staff, parents, and community.
- Provide administrative support to the Wiyot HHS Director by
submitting reports, adhering to program budget.
- Maintain a positive collaborative relationship with Tribal
Departments Skills Required:
- Ability to listen, motivate, energize, and maintain positive
interactions with youth.
- Ability to develop and implement program activities in health
and physical education, social recreation, education and personal
development, cultural enrichment, citizenship and leadership
development, and outdoor and environmental education.
- Knowledge of youth issues and assessments of their needs and
interests.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
Experience / Education Required
- Bachelor s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child
Development, Elementary Education or Special Education or related
fields
- Two years of experience working with youth in a leadership
position.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and
implementing activities that provide social enrichment and personal
development.Wage / benefits:This position is considered a
full-time, eligible for benefits, and at will employment. Includes
a three-month probationary period with a step raise for
satisfactory evaluation at that time. Position is dependent on
secured funding.
