Description We are looking for a Nursing Manager for the
Surgical Services Department at St. Joseph Hospital Eureka. Apply

Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours Shift: 8-hour, Days
(Variable Shift) Job Summary: Under the general direction of the
Director of Surgical Services, the Nurse Manager of Surgical
Services coordinates available resources to efficiently and
effectively provide professional patient care and services to
qualities consistent with nursing and SJHS-HC standards and at a
cost compatible with the fiscal and other resources of SJHS-HC.
Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the management and direction of
patient care and services in the assigned areas and delegates
authority, as appropriate. Essential Functions:
- Fiscal Management/Resource Utilization:
- Assures that resources and services support the mission of the
department and organization.
- Formulates realistic budgets with an emphasis on capital
equipment needs, provides input on space, human and other resource
needs to carry out department and organization-wide functions, and
demonstrates effective control of resources. Demonstrates effective
control of resources.
- Identifies and implements changes in systems as needed to
increase productivity, promote cost containment, and enhance
patient care and safety. Participates in planning for the future
needs and direction of the organization and direct areas of
responsibility.
- Human Resource Management:
- Demonstrates leadership ability by facilitating individual and
team development. Removes roadblocks to improve employee and
organization performance. Motivates, challenges and develops
employees.
- Assures that performance appraisals, coaching, counseling,
feedback, and discipline are conducted in concert with policies,
values and standards.
- Effectively recruits and hires staff as needed. Orients, trains
and evaluates staff to assure competency and meet patient,
departmental and organization needs.
- Conducts department meetings and related education for all
staff to meet the needs of the department and regulatory
requirements.
- Quality Assurance:
- Participates in performance improvement activities by
monitoring activities, identifying trends, and reporting to staff
for outcome improvements in practices. Maintains appropriate
quality control programs. Collaborates with Cardiac Surgery Nurse
Consultants to assure consistent achievement of cardiac surgery
nursing standards.
- Participates in the PIOP and understands department's
functions/role in the PIOP. Practices performance improvement
skills and techniques.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and
support the provision of services.
- Coordinates and integrates services within the department and
with other departments in order to assure that customer needs are
met. Skills:

- Clinical competence. Minimum Position Requirements: Education :
Coursework/Training - Graduate of an accredited nursing school or
Proof of licensure by the state of California. Experience:
- 3 years Clinical experience as staff nurse in appropriate acute
care setting.
- 3 years Health care managerial experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
- California Registered Nurse license.
- Current CPR certification. Preferred Position Requirements:
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Licenses/Certifications:
