Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Ability to float between like units, Open to accommodating block schedule, RTO must be included at time of submission Description: This is an adult and pediatric medical surgical and telemetry unit. The unit cares for pediatric patients from newborn to 17 years old. Neonates are not included. This unit also manages stable infectious respiratory care patients. Inpatient dialysis is performed on this unit by dialysis techs. Good site care and assessment are essential. Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to COPD, diabetes, and behavioral health issues. Special procedures include ostomy care, trach care, telemetry monitoring, and IV insertion. Equipment used in this unit includes telemetry systems, glucometers, and wound vacs. Travelers must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. Travelers may be expected to float between facilities as necessary. Candidates must provide a minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last three years. Travelers’ refusal to float may result in termination of assignment. If required for the assignment, providers will be supplied with necessary communication devices. Housing options should be explored in the area, as they may be limited. Modules are non-billable and complete pre-start and annually. Time spent on modules is self-reported, and completion is recorded.
