Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/09/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a fast-paced ICU position in a Level II trauma setting requiring CA licensure and expertise with ICP monitoring or post-TPA patient care. Responsibilities - Position is in a 30-bed ICU within an acute care hospital - Patient population includes trauma, neuro-stroke, head injuries, ventriculostomies, and post-TPA cases - Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:2, with some 1:1 assignments - Use of GE telemetry and Hamilton ventilators is required - Cerner is the charting system used on the unit - 12-hour night shifts with scheduling every other weekend - Floating may be required to telemetry or med-surg units - Charge nurse on every shift does not take patient assignments - No nurse aides; robust support available from hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy 24/7 - Role involves caring for critically ill trauma and neurology patients in a high-acuity environment - Candidates must be prepared for a demanding unit and demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills - First to float among staff when floating is needed - Unit provides a one-day orientation specific to ICU procedures and protocols - Holiday time off requests will be considered but not guaranteed; no current holiday shift requirement - Navy scrubs are required for this assignment - Retesting and orientation modules may be required on sterile technique - Past employees of the system within the last year (except PRN via outside agencies) are not eligible Requirements - Active CA RN license in hand—pending licensure will not be accepted - Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS preferred - Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required, 2-3 years in specialty strongly preferred - Must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies or with post-TPA patients - Recent trauma experience in a comparable fast-paced setting required - Proof of COVID vaccination required - Must pass a proctored dysrhythmia test (pass/fail) upon arrival - Two professional references, including one supervisor reference from the past year and another from the past three years - Copy of driver’s license required with application Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630132.
