Ultrasound Tech Location: Arcata, CA Agency: Ambition 24Hours Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 9 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Ultrasound Technologist (General / Echo) Location: Arcata, CA Schedule: Monday Friday, five 8-hour day shifts with shared call Type: 13-Week Contract | Diagnostic Imaging Position overview An experienced Ultrasound Technologist is needed to join a hospital-based Diagnostic Imaging department in Arcata, CA, performing a broad range of general and obstetric ultrasound studies with additional exposure to echocardiography. This role is ideal for a technologist with strong technical skills and patient-care focus who can work independently, support shared call, and collaborate closely with radiologists and cardiology providers. What you ll do Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including general, OB, small parts, and basic echo studies, in accordance with established protocols. Prepare, position, and reassure patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and appropriate imaging windows throughout each exam. Acquire and optimize sonographic images, recognize normal and abnormal findings, and present studies to interpreting physicians for review. Accurately document procedures, measurements, and observations in the imaging record and associated hospital systems. Participate in shared on-call coverage as scheduled, responding to after-hours imaging needs in a timely, professional manner. Maintain ultrasound equipment, perform basic quality checks, and promptly report any performance or safety concerns. Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, and fellow imaging staff to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional ultrasound experience in a clinical setting. ARDMS certification (or equivalent registry) in relevant specialties. Current BLS certification. Echocardiography experience strongly preferred. Proof of negative TB test within 24 months prior to start. Strong communication, patient-care, and customer service skills, with the ability to explain procedures and support patients throughout exams. Ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary imaging team.
