Location-Closes 2/20/26 SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the
Clinical Nurse Supervisor in consultation with the Ambulatory
Operations Director (AOD), utilizing the nursing process to provide
appropriate and culturally sensitive care to UIHS clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Level I Assists in the
day-to-day operations of the clinic as assigned by providing
nursing services to include various routes of medication and
immunization administration to clients as directed. Utilizes
various forms of communication to provide health instruction to
clients. Demonstrates knowledge of disease processes and implements
appropriate nursing skills and procedures in accordance with UIHS
policies, protocols, and procedures. Uses effective triage
assessment (in person and telephonic) to facilitate comprehensive
care. Uses nursing judgement to identify and intervene during
adverse events. Reports accordingly. Obtains vital signs to detect
deviations from normal and documents into the electronic health
record (EHR). Responds to client communications (electronic and*or
telephonic) and documents appropriately in the EHR. Has current
knowledge and skills in starting and maintaining IVs and IV pumps.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance
with approved nursing techniques and UIHS Policies and Procedures.
Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and
examination of client. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety
needs of client. Responds to life-saving situations based upon
nursing standards and UIHS Policies and Procedures. Initiates a
client education plan according to the individualized needs of the
client. Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and
supplies for procedures. Provides support for Medical Assistants.
Responsible for the care, cleaning and necessary sterilization of
all equipment and instruments used in accordance with clinic Policy
and Procedure. Utilizes good communication skills to maintain
positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers, other
departments in the agency, and with other facilities in the
community. Performs various office functions such as assisting with
medication assistance programs, tracking patient follow-up, and
other duties as may be assigned. Participates in case management
activities as assigned. Provides input in the evaluation process of
medical staff. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Assists
in completing required reports, program reviews and Accreditation
preparation. Maintains a professional, organized, and clean working
environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and
safety standards. Must be willing to learn more about the American
Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural
Presentation/Training per year. Must be willing to work with
American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural
awareness and humility Must be willing to deliver services in a
culturally responsive manner. Adheres to accreditation and
compliance standards/guideline Other duties may be assigned. Level
II – Competent in Level I and the following Participates in
education and training of staff. Assists in development of
departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities
within the clinic as directed. Specialty nursing certifications.
Facilitates and provides at least one educational training per
year. Completes monthly medication inventory and maintains BLS
equipment. Ability to perform independently at a satellite clinic.
Limited supervisory duties in the absence of Clinical Nurse
Supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in day-to-day
operations of staff, supervising specific areas as designated.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual

American Indians. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be
from a US Department of Education accredited school Level I RN –
Possession of a valid Registered Nurse California license. Level II
RN – Possession of a valid Registered Nurse California license and
Five or more years of related clinical experience, preferably in an
outpatient environment. COMPUTER OPERATIONS: Computer skills,
including electronic mail, routine database activity, word
processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Experience with EHR
programs LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write professional
correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups. Communicates with law enforcement
as needed in accordance with mandated reporting requirements.
