Job Description:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all
requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/30/2021.
Selective Placement Factor: In order to qualify for this position,
you must possess a valid Class C Driver's license. Time-In-Grade
Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have
held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet
time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this
announcement. For a GS-8 position you must have served 52 weeks at
the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have
been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your
time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application
materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within
the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year
time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance,
you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates
one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as
described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of
specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade
GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the
organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically
include, but are not limited to: Leadership skills to carry out the
responsibilities of a Lead Police Officer over an immediate PS
staff. Detailed knowledge of the full range of police and law
enforcement services including state, county and federal laws,
regulations, methods and procedures that apply to the facilities
depending upon their geographical location and type of jurisdiction
to ensure policing compliance and to prevent and resolve offenses.
Writing skills to prepare a variety of policing related reports and
documents for immediate supervisor's review and approval. You will

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including
volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace
Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;
philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and
skills and can provide valuable training and experience that
translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for
all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A
full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually
spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive
credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of
their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number
of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements:
The work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, considerable
and strenuous physical exertion such as running, frequent climbing
of multiple flights of stairs, and carrying items weighing over 50
pounds. It requires stamina, physical agility, dexterity, and the
strength to pursue, apprehend or detain persons who are often
uncooperative, assaultive, and/or armed. For more information on

LAUTENBERG AMENDEMENT: This position authorizes the incumbent to
carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor
crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or
ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(91)). Candidates who
have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are
not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration
will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted
of such an offense. False or fraudulent information provided by
candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title
18, U.S.C., Section 1001). IMPORTANT NOTES: (1) As a condition of
employment, must qualify to be issued a firearm and semi-annually
with assigned firearm, annually with an expandable Straight Baton
(MEB), maintain a valid State or Commonwealth Driver's License and
pass annual physical and Psychological assessment. Applicants must
be able to possess firearms under the terms of the Gun Control Act
of 1968, as amended (18 U.S.C. 922(g)(9).
