Job Description:

Duties:The incumbent will work with and under the direction of the Forest Environmental Planner, together, as applicable with the interdisciplinary team as a technical expert to help develop an innovative planning approach, write and edit sections of the Six Rivers Hazardous Fuels and Fire Management Project Environmental Assessment and Decision Notice. If administratively objected, service as the technical resource to participate on the Objection Review Team coordinated by R5, USFS.Write/edit sections of the Proposed Action related to Landscape Design, Resource Specific Design Features and Monitoring Strategy. 10%Write/edit sections of the Landscape Design Vegetative Communities and Fire Regimes document, with emphasis on vegetative communities of special considerations. Develop conditional environmental metrics that would trigger the need for action and integrate this section into the Estimated Implementation Pan 40%Write, and review and edit the botanical analysis and reports (prepared by the Enterprise Team) and review decision rationale in the Decision Notice. 40%Provide citations for literature applied to sections drafted and file in accordance with the protocol for the public record. 5%Attend meetings/calls/field trips as applicable to the work assignment. Coordinate with members of the core team regarding drafts, edits or comments related to the aforementioned sections. 5% Qualifications:Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR MA/MS DegreeTechnical writing skills, education in plant/vegetative ecology, educational and professional experience with approaches and policies related to forest management and environmental variables to consider, and direct experience working in a variety of vegetative communities on the Forest including serpentine communities of low productivity and high species endemism. Expertise in Species of Conservation Concern (SCC), Survey and Manage and threatened, endangered and Forest Service Sensitive plant species and habitats.Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, ARCVIEW (GIS)Paycheck 8 Other:Physical requirements: Work is primarily home and office-based.
