Trimble is seeking an innovative and customer-focused Product Manager for the Accessories Division of our Construction Field Solutions Sector, as part of the SECO brand. This opportunity is located in Redding, CA. 


SECO Manufacturing Co. is Trimble’s flagship Accessories brand with a worldwide reputation for designing and manufacturing cutting edge tools and accessories for surveying, construction, utilities and other industries that use GPS/GNSS technology. SECO is based in Redding, CA, with an additional manufacturing facility located in Tecate, Mexico. 


The Product Manager is responsible for a group/portfolio of SECO products -- managing the lifecycle and portfolio effectively, and understanding customer needs to develop offerings with compelling value propositions that can be taken to effective launch plans. This critical position works in conjunction with Engineering to define technical requirements and scope of new products.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish a Voice of Customer strategy and implementation plan.

  • Stay centered on a clear definition of our customers and their needs and use this to guide product design and development decisions.

  • Work with end-users, sales, support, and channel partners to understand and prioritize unmet customer needs and ways to maximize the value we deliver to the market.

  • Work with other Trimble divisions to develop a joint strategy and solutions to customer problems, both technical and marketing teams.

  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure product decisions align with the company’s strategic and operational goals and that stakeholder needs are prioritized appropriately.

  • Responsible for a product portfolio, maintaining ownership and accountability to develop and execute 1-5 year business plans.

  • Define product requirements, features, functionality, and success criteria.

  • Work closely with Engineering in the development and sustaining of products -- defining technical requirements. 

  • In-depth product familiarity, developed by spending hands-on time in the field with your product as required.

  • Full product life cycle management, ensuring product currency and appropriate obsolescence. 

  • Monitor product success metrics (product performance, quality, reliability, customer satisfaction), and regularly inform key stakeholders of results; take appropriate actions if products are underperforming.

  • Gather information about competitive offerings to help determine value-add product development opportunities.

  • Participate in industry trade association events, technical working groups, seminars, etc. to stay abreast of advancements and opportunities.

  • Contribute to the development of the business Long Range Plan by writing and presenting data for review and incorporation. 

  • Travel domestically and internationally to drive global success for product portfolio (~25%).


Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, User Experience, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Civil Engineering and/or Construction theoretical and practical experience.

  • 4+ years Product Management experience, preference to experience with industrial/construction grade hard goods, tools or equipment.

  • Demonstrated success in delighting customers with new products.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, speaking, and listening) and the ability to work across a diverse set of business functions and teams.

  • The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity; is a change agent and enjoys driving innovation.

  • You lead from the front to rally the organization around the success of our products.

  • You have an egoless confidence. You confidently share the state of our products and the planned future while being open to ideas, objections, and changing reality. 

  • Strong research capabilities, with curiosity and creativity to identify and integrate new information into compelling actionable strategies.

  • You are clear and concise: clarity is (almost) everything. You can synthesize information from multiple sources into clear and clean ideas and messages.

  • Be concerned with the details and able to change context regularly between strategy and in-depth implementation details.

  • Ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage long term projects and objectives.

  • Passion for solving customer problems.

  • Self-starter, self-motivated, enthusiastic, energetic and results-oriented.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

  • English-speaking, with Spanish as an additional ideal bonus.
