We currently have positions open for the 2023 season in the
following Regional Coordination Centers:Salem, OR; Sisters, OR;
Redding, CAPay RangesEntry Level firefighters will earn $21.00/hr
for Fire fighting ($16.35 Regular Pay + 4.80 Hazard Pay). Drivers
earn $25/HR while driving.Example of a Average Entry Level from

$1,252Total: $31,899 Job detailsDUTIESMost of the duties performed
by a Wildland firefighter are outdoors. The normal duration of work
is generally between the months of June through September. The
position is most commonly seasonal. Most duties are related to
prescribed burning, thinning, wildfire suppression, and fire
preparedness. These duties include serving as a firefighter or
engine operator during prescribed burning and wildfire suppression
activities; conducting regular maintenance and repairs on various
equipment such as fire engines, chain saws, and hand tools; serving
as a crew member during fire break preparation which involves rock
removal, mowing, trimming, tree and brush removal. You must be fit
and have the ability to hike and work in extreme environmental
conditions such as heat and smoke. You may have the potential to
assist in incident/disaster response activities throughout the
nation which may include driving, erecting tenting, and
loading/unloading trucks to camp management, quality control and
inventory.--- Most positions require working on a 2-3-person engine
or 20-person hand crew. It is imperative that you work well with
others. Communication with others is a vital part of the success of
the job. Primary contacts are generally other crew members, crew
supervisors, and others in the wildland fire management
organization.--- Work hours will vary depending on the assignment.
Seasonal firefighters are on call when needed and hours are not
guaranteed. The maximum number of hours to be worked in a day is
16, unless authorized by the agency during initial attack. An
average work week during fire season is typically between 84
-112.--- Much of your success will be based on how flexible and
adaptable you are to your surroundings and the unique environment.
You must be able to follow instructions and the chain of command
structure as well as utilizing your best judgment, situational
awareness and safety practices.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAs a condition
of employment, you will be required to achieve an arduous rating on
the "Pack Test (WCFT)," which requires you to walk 3 miles with a
45-pound backpack in 45 minutes or less. The WCFT is correlated to
measures of aerobic and muscular fitness as well as performance in
field tasks such as working with hand tools or carrying loads over
rough terrain. The WCFT will be administered when you initially
train or at your annual refresher. You must PASS the annual WCFT to
be eligible for dispatch. If you are not able to maintain the
fitness requirements you may be terminated in accordance with
applicable personnel regulations.Physical Demands: The work
requires strenuous physical exertion for extended periods
including, walking, climbing, chopping, throwing, lifting, pulling
and frequently carrying objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or
more.EQUIPMENT REQUIREDIf selected for a fire position you will be
expected to wear protective and safety equipment. The Company will
provide the following items - hard hat & headlamp, leather gloves,
goggles, fire resistant clothing [Nomex], Fire Pack and hand tools.
However, you will need to purchase a GOOD pair of firefighting
boots with VIBRAM soles. You will be reimbursed up to a certain
amount for the boots after you have been dispatched to your first
assignment. It is a very good idea to break the boots in BEFORE the
first day of work. Other than boots, you will only need to furnish
your personal belongings.Seeking immediate interest: Firefighters /
