Who you are: You appreciate a combination of field and office work. In your personal life you enjoy outdoor excursions whether it be backpacking, hiking, hunting, skiing, etc. You tend to have a penchant for numbers: thinking in ratios, distributions or how a series of measurements would look graphically. You have a positive attitude, good work ethic, aptitude to learn new skills, and are relaxed navigating in the forest by yourself. You may have a 2- or 4-year college degree in forestry or a related field in Natural Resources. You probably have job experience that at one time or another included vegetation surveys.

What the job is: : The Inventory Forester helps with the data collection and manipulation of tree statistics. Common tasks that are associated include the design, layout, and the administration of timber cruises to monitor the growth and composition of Green Diamond's redwood forest.

Listed are examples of the work this role performs:

• Stand delineation using aerial photographs along with LiDAR and informational shapefiles.
• Update stand typing in ArcMap that incorporates harvest history.
  
  • Design of plot/sample placement for maximum coverage within budget constraints.
  • Stand and road access reconnaissance.
  • Preparation of quality maps and printed materials.
  • Checks submitted timber cruising information from contractors and trains new employees on cruising protocols and methods.
  • Must maintain good communication when working with all internal departments, forestry consultants and their employees.

    Compensation Details: Hourly wage range with progression levels: $23.00 to $30.23. The pay range listed is just one part of Green Diamond's total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company-wide financial bonus and the opportunity to receive a bonus based on your personal performance.
    
    In addition, Green Diamond offers a generous benefit package to include medical/vision and dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan with match and profit sharing. Paid time off includes 9 designated and up to 2 personal holidays, 10 vacation days, 10 sick days, 30 days parental leave, 3 days bereavement, an extra 2 days bereavement unpaid, jury duty, 1 volunteer day, and 5 days family care.
